It’s easy to make and doesn’t take much effort. All you need is regular toast, some spinach, some mayonnaise, and a few fresh herbs like thyme, basil, oregano, and cilantro. Simply place the spinach on the toasted part of the bread, put a little cheese on top, sprinkle some fresh herbs (I love cilantro and thyme), and drizzle some olive oil over the toast.

I remember when I was a child, my mother would always bring a can of low-fat reduced-fat cheese in a plastic zip-lock bag with a plastic handle to zip it up. She would set it down and pop the cheese into the bag, which she then placed into the microwave to heat it up. My sisters and I would help her put the bag into the microwave. Then we would run around and try to help her open the can. Not very fun was it?

One of my favorite toddler food ideas is oatmeal with fresh fruit. An apple, pear, or banana makes a delicious breakfast and is also extremely healthy. To prepare the fruit, simply mix together three parts of milk, one cup of ground almonds, one cup of yogurt, and one tablespoon of ground flaxseed. Microwave oats make a delicious snack and are very easy to make.

One of my favorite toddler food ideas is hummus. You can eat plain, organic yogurt or buy plain, organic yogurt loaded with key nutrients, vitamins, and minerals. These are the kind of foods you want to eat before and after your toddler meals. If you prepare the hummus on its own, place it in a zip lock bag and take it out when you’re ready to eat.

Another one of my favorite toddler food ideas is popcorn. Kids love popcorn and I find it to be one of the most healthy snacks. You can either make your own popcorn, which is quite easy, or you can buy popcorn balls in packs and freeze them.

You can buy whole-grain cereals and low-fat yogurt and cottage cheese to help satisfy your toddler’s sweet tooth without packing on the pounds. There are lots of fruit and vegetable recipes for toddler meals available on the internet. Just go search on “fruit and vegetable” to find some wonderful ideas.
